Vision Statement
Every member praying, living and prayerfully ministering the love of God in readiness for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Prayer Ministries in West Jamaica Conference is to glorify God and under the direction of the Holy Spirit, lead every member to understand the ministry of prayer and to experience a personal transforming relationship with Jesus Christ through consistent prayer life, thus enabling the believer to become a disciple in ministering the gospel through Prayer outreach and keeping everyone in readiness for the second coming of Jesus.

Rationale for Prayer Ministry
Prayer holds a sacred spot in the life of the believer and an important place in the experience and mission of the church.

  • Without earnest consistent prayer, the believer has no spiritual power and cannot overcome.
  • Without meaningful heartfelt prayer in the mission and experience of the church, its worship becomes empty and worthless.

“Jesus Himself, while He dwelt among men, was often in prayer.... His humanity made prayer a necessity and a privilege. He found comfort and joy in communion with His Father. And if the Saviour of men, the Son of God, felt the need of prayer, how much more should feeble, sinful, mortals feel the necessity of fervent, constant prayer.” Steps to Christ. 45

Purpose of Prayer Ministry

  • To awaken a sense of our need to have prayer as a central daily experience.
  • To motivate members to practice prayerful life each moment of their existence this will enhance deeper relationship with Jesus and with one another.
  • To educate the church on the science, power and ministry of prayer.
  • To help the church to be more intentional about prayer and to have more members actively involved in intercessory prayers for others.
  • To strengthen other ministries and programs of the church.
